Suffering – the lot of every servant of Christ
No servant is greater than his Master. Our Lord Christ learnt obedience through His suffering. Jesus suffered because of our sins, wrongfully to the point of His crucification.
2 Tim 2:11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: 12 If we suffer , we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: 13 If we believe not , yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
To suffer in the flesh is to have ceased from sinning.
1 Peter 2: 19 For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. 20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults , ye shall take it patiently ? but if, when ye do well , and suffer for it, ye take it patiently , this is acceptable with God. 21 For even hereunto were ye called : because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: 22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23 Who, when he was reviled , reviled not again ; when he suffered , he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously.
14But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;
15But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
16Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. 17For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.18For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God. 1 Peter 3.
